Bonus point win puts Leeds back in the mix at the top

Leeds welcomed Bramley Phoenix at home after a long run of games on the road. Joe Walton returned to the side at scrum half, with Chris Chapman and Andy Gibney also returning on the bench. Leeds fielded a familiar front row with Jamie Fletcher, Josh Cassar and Jason Care starting the game, and Orlando Harper coming on from the bench. All four have played every game this year.

The ground was dry and bright for once, and Leeds came out firing on all cylinders. Adam Avison opened the scoring with a beautiful move out wide. Good forward play punched holes up the middle for Leeds. The ball was shipped out wide through Tom Burnell, Neil Haywood and Chris Brown who hit Adam Avison on a nice line in acres of space to score.

Chris Brown then got on the score sheet himself, going on a jinking run and stepping inside a couple of defenders to score.

Leeds were dominant and began turning the screw at both line outs and the scrum. Leeds found themselves with a scrum 10 metres out from the Bramley line. A colossal drive by the pack, forced Bramley back over their own line and Ben Walker touched down at the back for a great team try.

Leeds wrapped the bonus point up by half time. Super interplay from Chris Brown and Ellis Robinson carved up the Bramley defence, and Ellis Robinson jinked and danced his way through to race over from 40 metres out for the try of the day.

Leeds went into half time 26-0 with their tales up, looking to come out and extend the lead. Bramley however came out much improved. Bramley dominated possession in the second half and Leeds were starved of ball. A heavy penalty count against Leeds did not help their cause, with Will Craven getting a yellow after repeated infringements by Leeds. Some interesting scrummaging techniques from their experienced prop went under the radar and the Leeds scrum suffered. Bramley managed to score 2 tries to come back into the game but Leeds held out firm for the win.

Leeds had some stand out performers across the park. Chris Brown and Ellis Robinson looked devastating with the ball in hand, profiting from great hands from Tom Burnell, Danny Boyes and Adam Avison inside them. Des Claxton looked dangerous on the other wing with powerful running. Man of the match went to Paul Sebine who worked his socks off for 80 minutes and came up with a number of big shots on the Bramley attack.

Next up its a week off for the firsts, before a trip to Hessle away in the cup. Thanks for your support.
